Delete your Urbexology account
Urbexology uses passwordless sign-in: your account is identified only by the email address you used to sign in. This page explains what data we hold and how to remove it.
What we store
- Your email address (used as the login identifier)
- Spots you contributed, personal notes, favourite colours, and comments
- Wish list spot references linked to your account. These references show locations that interest you. The list is private by default, but you may choose to show all current and future eligible items on your public profile.
- Basic activity metadata (last login, contribution count)
You can remove an individual wish list item without deleting your account. The reference is retained until you remove it or your account deletion is completed. If you make the list public, eligible items and their exact locations are resolved from the spots' current map records rather than from saved copies of the map data.
How to request account deletion
- Email contact@urbexology.com with the subject Account deletion request.
- Send the request from the email address tied to the account whenever possible. We may ask you to verify that you control the account.
- Wait for confirmation that Urbexology has processed the request.
Urbexology does not currently provide automatic in-app account deletion. Sending an email starts a manual request and does not delete the account immediately. We will confirm when the request has been completed.
Public contributions that other users have interacted with (comments, spot photos) may be kept in an anonymised form after deletion, so the public map does not develop gaps. When account deletion is completed, account-linked wish list references are removed from the active account database. A spot that you previously shared on a public profile may still appear in screenshots, browser caches, or copies made by other people before deletion.
Data we cannot remove
Aggregated, anonymous usage counters and rotated web-server access logs (retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention) do not identify you and are not linked back to your email.
